Fellini Film Festival

Enlighten Film Society continues the `Filmmakers of the World` series with a festival celebrating one of the most original and visionary filmmakers of the 20th century; Italy`s Federico Fellini (1920-1993). He is most known for his extravagant, surreal and baroque treatments of frequently visited themes of memory, dreams, fantasy and desire. The curation brings together three of Fellini`s most popular films which each won the Best Foreign Language film Oscar and that have enthralled audiences and critics around the world ever since. The festival starts with the semi-autobiographical `Amarcord`, which is a comedic series of nostalgic vignettes set in a coastal town similar to the one Fellini grew up in. The following film is perhaps the greatest film ever made on filmmaking, 8 ½, after which the festival closes with Fellini`s neo-realist masterpiece, `La Strada`. Both of the final two films have appeared on the prestigious BFI Director`s Poll Top 10.
