Identity Project: Grab N' Grow

The Graphic Design 2001 final project was creating a mock branding for a subscription box service from scratch, which included packaging, business cards, a catalog, and a website.

Grab N' Grow is a mock subscription box service that delivers all the seeds and tools you need to start your own indoor garden right to your door! For this project, I wanted to channel an energy that was bright, bold and playful, showing that gardening can be fun and easy. The rounded patterns and bold colors in the branding are inspired by 70's designs. I also wanted to create a logo mark that could be easily altered, as seen in the packaging for the different seed types.
Within the box itself, customers would get three seeds of their choice (these options alter depending on what is in season) as well as soil and fertilizer, and a tool such as a water sprayer or a shovel. On the side of the box would be stickers indicating which seeds they chose, and inside there would also be a catalog with recipe ideas and fun facts to inspire the customer.
As seen from the packaging and the catalog, each seed has its own color-way, which then corresponds with the colors in the rounded figure-8 mark.
A goal of the project was also to create a responsive website, easily navigable on both mobile and desktop. For the website, I also wanted to include many fun hover states to engage the viewer and also use the same patterns and fonts as headers and body copy to keep branding consistent.
The inspiration for the project came from iterative logos such as the Waze logo, colors such as those found in pop art, and other brands such as Instacart and Chobani. I want people to be excited whenever they receive a new box, not only for the seeds but also the packaging and catalog inside. Through moodboarding and extensive comparison, I was able to make sure Grab N' Grow was cohesive in all aspects of its branding.
