DGDESIGN are supporting FifteenEleven Design by overseeing the exterior design of their restomod Porsche 914.

Our work defines the data used for all new bodywork tooling, and creates CAD images, animations and an up-front "digital Twin" of the car in VR - to support sales and promotional activity.

FifteenEleven's project takes Porsche Cayman running gear, and grafts it into the original 914 donor car.

To suit the revised package, exterior styling and functionality is enhanced by widening the wings - developing new front and rear bumpers and making bonnet and boot-lid modifications to suit the new mechanicals and cooling arrangement.

The resulting look is unique - more refined in its surface treatment than the original 914 GT, with purposeful side outlets and intakes built into the design.

Bespoke projector style LED lights and oversize "Moby Dick" main lamps set it apart from the standard car.

Precise build quality and attention to detail will take the original car to a whole new level in terms of perceived quality and driving dynamics.

With more than 400BHP performance is set to be blistering.

FifteenEleven Design have used our surfaces to develop new carbon fibre bodywork for an initial one-off build.

If the first prototype generates sufficient market interest, they plan to do a limited production run

It's been a huge buzz to help get this project up and running - thanks to Ben, Chris and the Team at Fifteen Eleven for giving us this super cool opportunity.

The Fifteen Eleven 914 concept was a really clear brief to work to - in terms of Technical details Chris and Ben knew exactly what they wanted to achieve.

Front end styling came together very quickly based on the hardpoint constraints and features they'd identified. Ben in particular was really keen on my previous work on the Porsche 904e Racer concept - so I grafted this aesthetic into the new bumper.

Distinguishing features such as the fog laps and projector lights add contemporary interest, but the character of the original car is still retained.
For us this was hugely important - we wanted it to still be instantly recognisable as a 914.

We looked at Porsche 911 arches from the equivalent era - as we collectively felt the form of these was much nicer & more refined than GT blister arches.
Putting Fuchs wheels on this was an absolute must. ;-)
Rear bumper is reprofiled to suit the new arch width - and we've opened the central region up to reveal more of the gearbox and Cayman exhaust system.
If you've got it, you might as well flaunt it!

Rear lights and central Porsche script echoes 930 model 911 - which I've always felt was pretty much THE definitive 'elfer.
(I was born in 1973 - so this era car looms BIG in my early car education)

Boot-lid has been reworked to incorporate a discreet ducktail spoiler - which rises on Cayman sourced telescopic rams to provide increased downforce at speed.

I felt compelled to go online and buy a 914 diecast early on in the project.

Those that know me will confirm that I've always had a soft spot for anything in an orange-and-black livery . . .  if you throw in some Fuchs wheels and a bit of asymmetric detailing and I'm basically hooked.

This little guy has got BAGS of character - so I always knew I'd try and do him justice by developing my own digital tribute.

Interesting image for me, as it puts the 914 GT in the same frame as the earlier collaboration 904e project I did with Tom Underhill last year.
I developed the race car variant shown here - and if you look closely you'll spot the similarities in bumper / lower grille treatment.
Ben from FifteenEleven really liked the 904e racer, so was keen to see a bit of this DNA worked into the script of our 914 design.
2022-01-05     IT'S COMING . .

The Fifteen Eleven team have been busy spinning many other interesting plates in second half of 2021, but their focus has now returned to the 914 project.
Exterior tooling has now been laid down, and initial prototype body panels have been produced from it to iron out the production details.

In the coming months we’ll continue working with them to finish development the exterior and interior, and support their launch campaign with press pack artworks, and also develop their customer interface / sales experience.
2022-01-26     Speedform

To allow Customers the opportunity to assess paint colours before they commit to the final purchase, we developed a speedform mold - which allows vac formed simplified representations of the bodyshell to be produced at 10th scale, and then sprayed to show off whatever paint finishes the customer is considering.

Fun work to do, but a challenge to capture the character of the car in a single line of draw without any undercuts.

Final stages of bodywork prep before it hits the paint booth . . .  This thing looks so mean in the flesh - seems a shame to paint over the carbon, but the Customer has a clear vision, and the colour they've chosen is a belter.  . . looking forward to seeing the transformation.
