This chair is a reinterpretation of the traditional Nordic armchair for dining. These types of armchairs have many advantages which I have tried to reinforce: The armrest creates an embracing and welcoming expression and defines a comfortable private space around the seated person. I have placed the armrest in a height which makes it possible to push the chair under a normal height dining table, to save space when the chair is not in use. Furthermore the armrest is placed as far back as possible, to avoid the feeling of being trapped between the chair and the table. In this way the shape of the chair takes account of how it deals with respectively the body and its surroundings.
I have worked with a graphic idiom making the shape and construction easy to read. The chair is made of cherry wood, metal and cork. Cork, being a soft and warm material, creates a really comfortable seat. The chair is easy to assemble and can be seen as a knock-down construction.
