Variable dose injection device
Building on existing brand identity, while allowing for customisation
Haselmeier challenged Team Consulting to help them take their prototype insulin pen from concept through to manufacture. The device needed to be easy-to-use, robust and suitable for mass manufacture, while also being easily customisable for future licensing opportunities.
Drawing on user insights, we produced an elegant, functional and cost-effective device that built upon the company's existing brand identity. With an increased maximum dosage from 60UI to 80UI, the device, named Axis-D, was designed to anticipate market trends while tackling some of the common user issues seen in other disposable pen injectors.
Awards: Good Design Award 2014
We carefully planned and discussed all aspects of the Axis-D pen to help reduce user error and facilitate onboarding of new users. From the feel of the mechanical click to the selection of the material and injection force, we crafted each aspect carefully to improve usability.
