This image was taken at the Studios on Sheridan during First Friday on September 6th, 2013. This neon sign can be found in the Urban Artifacts store inside of the studios. I found this image to be a great detail shot, it was very eye catching, especially in the dark area.
In the altered image i used the spot healing tool to touch up the neon "T". I did this because the distorted "T" stopped the flow of motion throughout the photo. You would constantly be drawn to that portion of the photo and stop, fixing it allows for a more steady flow throughout the image.
This image was taken outside at the back entrance of the Studios on Sheridan during First Friday on September 6th, 2013. This specific spot was the entrance to a gallery in the Sunbeam building. I chose this iamge for a landscape shot because it is the beginning of the journey throughout the studio, as well as a clever visual pun with the sun setting in the background.
In the altrered version I increased the brightness as well as the exposure to bring some more color to the door and the wording on the door. Before it was very faded and dreary looking but with the help of light it brightens up the whole feel of the image. It also makes the sun a more dramatic feature in this piece.
This image was taken at the Studios on Sheridan inside the Urban Artifacts section of the studio, during First Friday on September 6th, 2013. I chose this image because it is a perfect representation of motion. Having the two reels spin and the other stopped shows the difference in motion in the image. As well the slot machine itself is very colorful and interesting, it draws peoples' attention and begs to be looked at.
In the altered version I rotated the picture slightly to make the bottom of the machine level, i also adjusted the brightness, and the red and blue color levels. Doing so i made the image a tad brighter without losing details in the slot machine.
This image was taken in the lobby of the Sunbeam Building inside the Studios on Sheridan during First Friday on September 6th, 2013. I decided this would be a good portrait photo because the singers facial expressions gives off the feeling of the whole event, a fun relaxing evening. I found this portrait to be interesting because both the singer and pianist are captured in the image and create the scene.
In the altered image I cropped the upper portion of the image to get rid of unnecessary negative space, as well as the portion of the poster in the upper left hand corner. I adjusted the exposure as well as the red levels to add more color to the image.
This image was taken at a small private gallery on West Main Street in Peoria, Illinois. This image was taken during First Friday on September 6th, 2013. I found this image interesting because it has a great deal of symmetry in it as well as contrast. The color of the white and red rose are great contrast, but the frames, background, and even the color of the walls make this a great symmetry piece.
In this altered version I rotated the frames to make both pictures balanced and leveled. I also cropped on all sides of the photo to make the the pictures more of the focus and not the negative space. I also adjusted the brightness and exposure just a tad to make the image brighter and be able to see more of the details.
This image was taken at the Studios on Sheridan during First Friday on September 6th, 2013. I chose this image for a lot of reasons. The natural framing of the cage, the contrast between the neutral colors and the color of the bird and nest. This image is a perfect composition to use for rule of thirds.
In the altered version I cropped the image on the left quite a bit to move the bird more towards a focus point away from the middle of the image. i adjusted the exposure and brightness to make the image a tad darker and the wood darker with more detail as well. I also used the spot healing tool to touch up the birds tail and back feather area.
