PAPER

Overview
The player plays as a coloured combatant named Inkun who has to defend a page of paper from various cretins by colouring them in with the ink they are made of. this is done through the numerous abilities Inkun possesses. Basic attacks like throwing ink and hitting will be done automatically by Inkun on cretins that are immediately in front of him and in range.
The paper rips in random places and cretins pour onto the page through the hole. In order to complete the wave the players have to patch all the holes.

The cretins are pencil sketches that have come to life on the paper. They are uncoloured outlines and the player must shoot and splodge them with ink until they are fully coloured in. in turn the cretins will try and fade the vibrancy of the players ink colour to nothing by shooting and hitting them with water.
The players and cretins can use procedurally placed objects on the page of paper as cover. These would relate to the context they are in (office paper = pens, pins, stacks of staples / Kids colouring book = crayons, Lego bricks and other small toys / art paper = pens, brushes, ink pots, rubbers).

Here I've highlighted areas the areas players can use as cover in green, in these cover spots they can still throw their ink over the cover objects while remaining protected. when players run towards the cover spots directly or stand in the green zone next to the cover  spot they will automatically use the cover. to get out of the cover spot the Inkun simply moves in a direction away from the cover.
For each wave the players survive the players get experience points which cash in at the end of the match. When players level up new equipment becomes available to use. The players can swap and change this equipment and make their own personal build.

Levels do not increase the player’s statistics but their new equipment could give the player new advantages and abilities.

Waves get increasingly harder and every so often a Boss Wave will occur where a unique boss monster will burst through the paper (sometimes supported by other critters).
Platforms
PAPER has been designed with portable devices in mind and there for has been designed to be instantly accessible and appealing to a broad audience.
The controls use the motion sensors and accelerometers of devices such as the iPad and the Playstation Vita for movement and the touch screen of these devices for actions. The player can send Inkun hurling into a group of critters bowling them over with a flick of their finger, grab him and put him in another area of the paper battlefield by pinching him between two fingers and moving him to where you need him before releasing him (multi touch is needed for this) or strum their fingers on an area of the screen where they want Inkun to rain ink down. all these abilities use some of Inkun's magical star power which will regenerate over time. Abilities will become available to use as the player gains levels.
PAPER was also designed to make full use of the connectivity of these portable devices and be enjoyed fully when played together with a team of up to four others. A player can connect to a game within the vicinity of their device via Bluetooth at any point and enter that game at the beginning of the next wave, or connect to an online game via Wi-Fi.
Ther is the posability that PAPER could translate well to PC and home console platforms such as Playstation 3 and Nintendo Wii,  to use hand held motion controls or a mouse in the place of the players finger on portable devices. It will fit well with digital distribution channels on these consoles also.
Conclusion

I initial conceived the concept behind PAPER 2 years or so ago but I recently revisited this concept as I feel it deserved to be brought up to date. It also suited the devices that were recently made available or are soon to be released. I am planing to take PAPER forward for the first development project of the studio I have recently founded www.blueblazestudio.com
