Pacha mama in the Andean belief system means Mother Earth. This design project is for Pachamama to find places to grow and bring awareness on how the citizens of Quito are getting separated from her. The city of Quito became a walled and contaminated place where nature does not find places to exist.
The PachamamaPots are containers made to be hanged in house's walls and fences. They are made using basic design skills and easy access materials like old cloths, plastic shopping bags and broomsticks. The choice of material and manufacturing process allows the designer to, with few means, produce , place and the pots without the collaboration of private companies or institutions.
The designer acts as a temporal nurturer for the PachaMama Pots in search for spaces where they can be left and adopted by other citizens. The designer channels through these placings the silent claims of Mother Nature.
