Collage

The following was an assignment for my Digital Media I Class. All of the images are original photography, taken on the Panasonic Lumix, point-n'-shoot camera; the post-production and design were accomplished with Photoshop CS6 CC and Photoshop CS5.5.

When I was taking the pictures, I was not sure of the overall concept, but I was struck by how much beauty I was unaware of in my everyday environment. Immediately I knew what my message should be: appreciate the beauty all around you.
Holley Branch
When I learned about puppet warping in Digital Media class, I instantly appreciated its potential. When I couldn't find an appropriate photo for an L, I remembered puppet warping, and made a straight branch crooked. Outside of that, I accentuated the subject; healed-out blemishes; and simplified the background with blurs, sharpens and color adjustments.

Green, Spikey Plant
This is one of my favorites from the photos I took: its beautifully symmetrical, circular, and yet its subtle patterns are very sophisticated. I accentuated its beauty with simulated depth-of-field, and heavy sharpening.

Red Flower
I love the bold, sexy red on this flower. I have chosen this angle very intentionally, to position the flower directly in front of the tree to accentuate the red color. To further enhance the photo, I simplified the background, eliminating some debris in the yard—the magic of Photoshop.

Yellow Flower
The pattern of the petal  on this flower are so beautiful. This photo needed only a little bit of work: some weeds needed to be removed from the mulch, and the usual accentuation of the subject.

Purple Flower Photo
The background needed to be simplified and the subject needed to be sharpened.

Magnolia Blosom

I love the sophistication in this blossom with the little thorns and the fuzzy exterior--its amazing. With Sharpening, I was able to dramatically accentuate that sophistication. The change in angle came in the design process.

Fluffy Grass Cap

The pattern of the little "threads" growing outward from the core is beautifully complex. This is made more pronounced by sharpening.
