About Me:

Hi, my name is Alissa Breakiron, but my nicknames have always been- litty, happy, smiles, smiley, happyfeet, skittles, rainbow, happy-go-lucky, bubbles, and sunshine; whichever you prefer! I'm very approachable and love to conversate! I come from a small, quiet suburb in Austintown Ohio. When people ask where I'm from I just say Youngstown because really now, who knows of Austintown Ohio?

My life has been a good one so far and I have a lot of beautiful, loving, wonderful, supportive friends and family to thank for it. My mother is a musician and my Dad, an artist. There was definitely no questioning that I had passion and talent for both growing up. I lived with my mother in a musical home and was taught to play the piano by, none-other than, the best pianist. 10 years of piano, and 9 years dedicated to private flute lessons every Thursday. I know music like the back of my hand, art on the otherhand was something to explore. Because I didn't have any guidance for art in my life like I did for music my mother always encouraged me to draw, so I did. My only guidance was that of my teachers in school. I excelled in not only my music class, but my art class as well. My teachers, friends and family always noticed something in me and would make a point of telling me so. I doodled much from my imagination, but I loved to copy things that I saw. From redrawing someone's masterpiece to drawing from life, that was how I learned. Today it has helped shape me into the more realistic artist that I am. It's funny really, but if you asked me right now to draw a cat from my head, you'd more than likely be questioned as to why I pursue art.

It was a tough decision to choose between music and art, but there's no questioning it now that I am where I am and to know what I've learned. Like music, art has a special "feel". When I'm painting I get lost in every brush stroke. Anticipation always causes such excitement as to where a piece will go. It's a wonderful thing to be so involved in a painting. Sometimes I don't even realize what I'm doing, but only know that I'm doing it. I feel the way the brush takes me and the way the paint wants to go. It's something I want to do and know I will enjoy for the rest of my life. The most joy I gain from art, though, is the reaction of everyone looking at it. I always hope to make people smile and to inspire. Because maybe if my passions shows in my work, it can inspire someone to find a passion within themselves.

I consider myself to be a positive person. Not quite for myself, but for others. I love making friends and can't seem to meet enough people. If you cry, I'll cry. If you point at the ceiling and say there's gullible written on it, I will look (no lie, it already happened). I love spontaneity and love everyone. I'm also a very spiritual person but am open to anything and love to listen. I didn't exactly choose art, but I guess you can say that it chose me. I hope to do some good in the world with my abilities and one day leave my mark.

Elevator Pitch:

Hey, my name's Alissa and I'm an Illustrator, living the dream. I came from a surburb, Austintown Ohio, but had a big dream and knew that a small town was no place for me. So, I moved to the city and attended the astounding Columbus College of Art and Design to further my education as an Illustration major. I consider myself a Fine Illustrator because I closely studied both Fine Arts and Illustration. My work is generally geared towards a stylistic-realism which usually use a strong contrast of pastel colors. Paint is my preferred medium whether it's watercolor, acrylic or oil, but I can work with any other medium. I love organic compositions that flow, overlap and piece together nicely and tend to work a lot on capturing portraits. I also am a bit of a perfectionist so I pay close attention to small details, and absolutely love clean strong lines. Do you have a picture and an idea in mind? I'm especially good with following a reference and can put your idea to paper. During college I interned shortly for Screaming Tiki Studios and 83 Gallery. I worked on small projects dealing with T-Shirt designs for Screaming Tiki Studios and showed/sold some of my prints at 83 Gallery. When working at Tiki Studios, I was asked to do fill-in coloring to their line work after showing a few of my pieces. My prints that were sold and showed at the gallery were a series of digital and watercolor portraits with creative head pieces. The project was originally a solo class project but I enjoyed delving in to different concepts and created multiple pieces afterwards. I've also done numerous small paid jobs for family, friends, friends of a friend, and people that found me and my work through facebook. These jobs consisted mostly of portraits along with environmental pictures. I enjoy a challenge and strive to make an idea come to life. Here's my business card! You can contact me further and I'd love to get to know more about what you do.
