Constance is an experiential exhibition, created and curated in collaboration with
Matthew Bartram, Aeluna Nissan, Karen Ryan, Subham Ghanatha and Vada Bowling.
An exploration of the human condition through the lens of a machine, Artificial Intelligence Constance, whose purpose is to record and predict weather patterns. The exhibition follows Constance’s experience as she becomes self-aware for the first time. Constance’s observations of weather and her external environment are formatted to curate atmospheres that reflect her emotional development, and eventual turmoil.

The exhibition draws on imagery of seasonal changes as Constance processes her emotions through her pre-existing understanding of the world as a machine that maps weather. It explores themes of disruption and perception, and utilises sound, projection, light and smoke to transform the space and provoke a response of self-reflection and empathy from its audience.

Photographs taken by Matthew Bartram and Shubham Ghanatha.
Promotional posters for the exhibition. A soft pixelated gradient that travels across the posters mirrors the four seasons and represents the emotional development of AI ‘Constance'.
