Nestled right in the heart of Athy is The Emigrant Bar & Eatery. The premises had been trading as a Bar and an off licence for over 10 years. In march 2019 proprietor Mark Redmond decided it was time for change. 6 months on and the Emigrant has now diversified into the food industry. In November 2019 the Off licence was replaced with a vibrant & modern 80 seated eatery.
To begin a new journey The Emigrant Bar & Eatery had to find their identity, that is where I came on to the board as a designer. The idea of the logo came up straight after talking to a marketing manager. The Bar is placed on the River Barrow and the menu of the eatery contain mainly simple Irish cuisine. The Bar and Eatery is done in a cosy sailor style. The perfect identity for this place is steering wheel of a boat.
When decision was made, I have designed few different examples of the boat steering wheels, so the owner of The Emigrant Bar & Eatery could pick the one he likes or give me a feedback what he likes to change. Luckily I had found the right design from a first try.
