The first documented mention of the village "crusemarke" is from 1209, the name is derived from the family "von Krusemarck", who owned a manor on the main road. Only from the beginning of the 19th century the village was spelled with a "K". By decision of the Prussian Ministry of State, the manors of Hohenberg and Krusemark were merged on 17.10.1928 to form the municipality of Hohenberg-Krusemark.
