My Design Process and Goal
Create a graphic design of an animal of my choice that acknowledges color theory, positive and negative space, as well as a creative interpretation of the animal.
My Animals
The Great Horned Owl and Tree Frogs.
Designing Sketches
My Sketches captured a stylistic yet readable look to the photographs I chose as reference.
Creating a Grayscale and Color Vector
I then practiced designing my animals through adobe Illustrator.
I created many versions of these grayscale and color vectors to see which design was working the best for my next step.
My colored vectored reflected the local color of each photograph.
Designing and Refining
In this stage, I began to play with color variants.
With the knowledge of color theory I applied various color schemes such as complementary and monochromatic to my designs.
Creating My Final Mockup
I used my favorite color scheme and design and applied the final product to a mockup to make it much more professional and realistic.
Final Thoughts
This project was so much fun and I had a great time designing and creating something I can actually use! I look forward to using these designs as a product that I can sell.
