Black-and-white often tells a story more clearly than color. The latter has such power over our senses, that it can overwhelm the story, and the story gets lost. Occasionally, color is the story—as in the case of a festival or fall foliage—and must be shown. Here, however, color was prominent, but not the story. What to do? I decided to offer this project both ways—as color and black-and-white—and see what the viewers have to say.
The day was overcast with the sun gradually breaking through. The glare was strong, which made shooting difficult. A polarizing filter would have been just the ticket on such a brightly overcast day—but alas, it was the one item I lacked.
