Cookbook Recipe Concepts

These are two recipe spreads from a made-up cookbook.

For each recipe I wanted to have a large appetizing visual of the dish to grab the viewers attention. Next, on the left side they would see the name of the dish, and then where the steps are for the recipe, then followed by the list of ingredients needed.

I wanted to keep the name of the dish towards the left side of the left page so when a viewer is "scrolling" (flipping through pages quickly without completely opening to each page) they would be able to quickly identify the recipe page they are on. The same concept is also applied to the top right hand corner of the right page, where you will see the section of the book listed first, followed by the name of the dish. So when you are scrolling through the book on the right side, you would know what section you are in and the dish.

For the fonts of the book, I chose a clean sans serif for the recipe name, ingredients, page numbers etc.. I chose a serif for the directions and set it with a good amount of leading and an easy to read line length, to make it as easy as possible for the viewer to read the steps of the recipe, so they can just concentrate on actual cooking and not having trouble reading the recipe or losing their spot easily.
