Cream City Boardwalk
This partner project was the final project for a graduate Urban Design course. The site is located south of downtown Milwaukee and located along the Kinnickinnic River.The site is currently home to a marina and storage facilities. This redevelopment of the site looks to create a vibrant, mixed-use community with a variety of housing types and uses. All drawings were created by me with design input from teammate.
Our team felt there needed to be a variety of both streets and spaces. We took time to detail the differences in streets by understanding what a commercial street needs and how that differs from what the residential streets would need. By doing this, we came up with schemes to implement for each street based on the program of surrounding buildings. The two major public spaces flank the major street which runs through the site. Being on the river, we felt that the boardwalk concept with docks which bring you out over the water was a proper response to the site.
