Festive Face Masks
The Design

The brief was to create a Christmas design or artwork to for a window display in the city center of Newcastle as part of a competition. For my piece, I cut up an old Christmas jumper and transformed them into festive masks. In previous years it had all been about the Christmas jumpers, however in 2020 it is all about the masks. I want to show people that wearing a mask doesn’t have to be a chore, they can be fun to wear or even make yourself. I wanted my design to make people smile and encourage them to be safe this Christmas.

Development Work

I focused my ideas around what I like and dislike about Christmas. I enjoy that my family and I give each other ugly Christmas jumpers every year and I dislike the cold weather. I developed the face mask idea as it was the strongest concept. I chose this jumper as the images were smaller enough to be shown on the masks
