The sound visualizer light is a device in wich the intensity of the light responds to volume. The light shows the sounds presents in the room where it is positioned. It can be used to analyze acoustic effects and noises.
The device is also an interactive lamp as it shows every sound people can make moving or talking.
The sound visualizer light consist in a DMX light connected to a computer with Max MSP software that analyze the sound volume captured by a microphone positioned next to the light. The light show the sound present where the light is positioned and through the software we can decide how sensible we want it to be, depending on what our purpose is.
The main purpose of this device was to help me researching and communicating my works; it’s always difficult to talk about sound as we cannot see it and it change depending on the position that we have in the space. This way I can show how the sound is behaving in a precise spot of the space.
