MPL Interiors's profile

Leaders Romans Group,Salford

The creation of a Northern powerhouse
MPL Interiors is at the forefront of estate agents office refurbishment and consolidation in the UK, helping businesses relocate to and develop more suitable premises. In the case of The Leaders Romans Group, growth was behind the occupation of 380 square metres of space in Ice – purpose-built office accommodation in Salford’s Exchange Quay.

The Leaders Romans Group continues to expand and acquiring Revolution Property Management in 2019 saw the company grow exponentially. As a result, the Group sought to bring a number of its departments together in one location, seizing the opportunity to create a northern hub in Salford. As a retained client of MPL Interiors, we were asked to space plan and fit-out its new workplace with our estate agency office design.
THE BRIEF

The client was keen to bring a number of its back-office departments together, allowing them to work as individual teams but with a sense of togetherness. The brief also included the installation of glass partitions to create meetings rooms and private offices. Although not a client-facing workplace, MPL was asked to include a number of design elements that are seen in The Leaders Romans Group’s High Street estate agency branches.

OUR APPROACH

As the supplier and installer of all the office furniture in this office fit-out, our focus was firmly on space planning. Working 2D drawings were crucial at every point and provided the group of stakeholders to jointly agree on a space plan and an estate agent office interior design that would suit everyone’s needs.

MPL planned in a number of meeting rooms and private offices to complement a largely open-plan space, with cluster desks facilitating either collaborative, designated-user or hot desk working - whichever suits incumbent circumstances. Although occupying a serviced office, we also spent time fine honing the services, re-routing the data and power supply to match the desk configuration.
BANISHING BLANDNESS WITH WALL ART

With expanses of smooth, white walls, MPL really did have a blank canvas to customize the estate agency’s refurbishment. Personality has been injected into the main open-plan space with a montage made up of local landmark photographs, which have been printed to vinyl and applied to one wall. In the break-out area/communal kitchen, the tone has been set with a single photo depicting a typical bistro scene – a reoccurring graphic used across The Leaders Romans Group.

Moving to the sales area, our wall art was customized to allow the company to set targets and have a visual way of tracking progress. The final piece of wall art is a ‘hall of fame’ with framed templates that can be filled by the client as part of their ‘Leaders legend’ staff reward and recognition scheme.

BRINGING BRANDING TO A SERVICED OFFICE

When businesses rent in a serviced office block or complex, they usually take on a brand-neutral shell. It is up to an estate agents office refurbishment company, such as MPL Interiors, to infuse the space with an identity yet within any covenants. In this case, we adhered to The Leaders Romans Group’s corporate colours of blue, and this palette influenced our wall art and decoration, as well as our choice of office furniture. The Group’s two logos – a large L and the Revolution insignia - were used to personalise the desks’ modesty panels, and they also feature on ceiling-hanging signs, illuminated wall signage and in the photomontages.
