Johns Hopkins University — Covid Tracker




During the coronavirus pandemic, the Johns Hopkins University has been a trusted source for providing reliable pandemic data from all over the world. And in order to share information in a clear, engaging way, they commissioned us to do a video campaign that tracked the COVID-19 evolution, using the support of Bloomberg Philanthropies.







Data-generated design

The colour scheme is attuned to data: each range of information has an assigned colour, shape and sound, working together to create a clear, fast overview of the daily flow of information.







Representing the pandemic

Going from the big picture to all the small details, we used simple, round shapes enhanced by the use of grain in continuous, random movement. This way the many elements that influence a global scale event come to play in one single visual representation.




Data visualization

A coherent system of figures, maps, charts and areas works with a constant colour scheme to gain a better understanding of a phenomenon that covers so many areas. Multiple perspectives were being covered, as we used motion design to render these data comparisons effective from a visual point of view.
