Cyberpunk 2077
Fan Art Poster

In 2020, I embarked on creating 2x fan art posters - and Cyberpunk 2077.
This poster was the most technically challenging poster that I've ever created due to the amount of detail, colour variations and the futuristic topic, it needed to stand out but to not be too over powering.

I drew the ink work all in brush pen ink, before taking it to Photoshop

The line work was sketched and inked directly onto paper to start with.

It's a personal choice, as I love the texture you get from paper and ink, and I also like to keep a physical version of my drawings before we paint them.
This section took a good 15 - 20+ hours to do - from drawing it up to finalising the line work with Japanese Brush Pens...

The next stage was to scan the artwork and then digitally render and paint it in Photoshop.

This part took 9 months on-and-off to complete, mainly due to the fact I was live streaming this for the first time in my career and I had major issues finding the colour palette at the start of the poster's digital process.

After a session off stream, I found the colour's and we moved forward to finalise it...

The final poster art came out really well - and the colours really helped to separate characters, environments, and tiny details, which was the biggest lesson for me whilst making this.

I would love to have gone back and added a few other things but I walked away because I didn't want to overcrowd the final design - and instead look at this poster as a big learning curve of how to play with colour, texture and tone - without drawing anything at all...
