Armchair and Trolley for JAJU 2020
Since 2018, SWNA has designed furniture that reflect Korea's lifestyle with JAJU.
Armchair
The 1st item is the armchair, which started by redefining the size of existing products that are too large for Korean residential spaces and average height for Koreans. Although it is a small size of furniture, it developed a design that is faithful to the purpose of 'rest' by gently wrapping the body. It blends naturally in the residential space. And it was composed of a seat made of urethane mold and metal frame so as not to take up much space
Trolley
The 2nd item is the trolley. We analyzed the usage behavior of users and found that each floor of the trolley has common usability. It was found that on the top floor, it was used frequently and stored small items, and the lower it was, the less frequently used, heavy and large items were stored. So, we made trolley with different heights for each floor.
Process
Armchairs and trolleys are furniture directly related to the human body. So, after the process of generating and arranging ideas, we made a real scale mock-up and verified the size before concretizing the concept.
Since both items were to be sold not only in offline stores but also in online stores, it was necessary to study a structure that could be reasonably assembled to reduce production costs and facilitate delivery. Not only the structure but also the materials and small parts were carefully selected and manufactured one by one.
