For this project, I created the brand ‘Expedition’. For the brand logo, I took inspiration from NASA and SpaceX in order to convey a modern and slightly futuristic style. I’ve created a full version logo as well as an alternate shorten ‘EX’ version for condensed situations. Additionally, the brands subscription service “Expedition Plus” also received its own set of logos too.
The website, expedition.importwave.com, which is live right now, is the primary platform for this project. This is where users can go to learn about our future of space travel and the colonisation of new planets. The information is presented in a condensed, easy to understand format that is accessible to anyone wanting to learn. This is all packaged in an easy to use website which includes appealing visuals and smooth animations.
This is the selection screen where users can choose where they want to explore. This is one way where I’ve tried to make this website more of an experience and to flow nicely. The three locations to choose from are the International Space Station, the Moon and Mars.
The main information of the website is presented in short paragraphs which give enough information but isn’t really tedious to read. Additionally some information is in the form of tables or numbers. All the information found on the website has either been reworded by me or credits the source.
The timeline page gives an interactive timeline about NASA and SpaceX’s plan to return to the Moon and to eventually colonise Mars. As the user scrolls down, the years change, allowing them to read about the predicted timeline between 2011 and 2050.
For the brand, I created a set of mock-ups for what an Instagram account for Expedition would look like. These first two mock-ups show what an ad would look like, with the main goal being to get people to the website which is the main hub. 
These two mock-ups show what an Instagram story would look like as well as how the whole account is setup. Since the whole aim of this project is to educate, an alternative way to do this is through an Instagram story which present small snippets of information or news.
These are the two posters that can be purchased from the webstore. They are large A2 posters that feature illustrations from the website, which can then be put up in any room and serve as a reminder of our future in space. I wanted to keep branding and type to a minimum, so I’ve only included a small logo at the top.
When purchased, the posters ship out in custom packaging. I went with an unconventional triangle box in order to convey a futuristic feel. I also have kept the design pretty simple with a two tone black and white box with small illustrations and stars. I have also included logos and website URL too.
Also included in the box is a complimentary sticker of an astronaut’s helmet which can be placed on someone’s laptop and includes the website URL for those looking at the sticker for the first time.
Also included in the box, is a 6.5cm by 10cm small piece of paper which includes information about the planet they purchased a poster of. This was a compromise in order to keep the posters minimal but to still deliver information to the customer.
