Note from the curator:
"As an interdisciplinary printmaker and curator, I seek to make space available for intimacy between artists and art. I created the Open Book Show sequence of Bay Area exhibitions with recent showings at Root Division and Arion Press.
Redefining the audience as steward, the Open Book Show invites people to touch sketchbooks, notebooks, and artists books: to engage in tactile interaction within time that subverts late stage capitalism. Featuring over 100 artists, live printing, and a breadth to what book arts can mean, I’m proud to see this community flourish. In an age of encouraged ignorance, fake news, and xenophobia, Open Book tells stories. The practice of keeping records may be associated with comfort but it is also an act of survival. Books chronicle queerness, manifestos, persistence, magic, outrage & love.
“Open Book 7” is a hybrid project of a digital archive and future in-person exhibition at Open Windows Cooperative focusing on the now ever present theme of distance + care. "
