Since 2014 I have been a part of the Upper Mt Gravatt/Wishart parish youth group. I stepped up in 2015 to become a part of the leadership team who help plan, create and facilitate monthly events for the younger students. Our Leadership team all volunteer their time to fostering a safe, fun and educational space for the youth. 

I have since applied my Creative Industries design skills into creating graphic designs, videos, and posts to promote YAYA's events through social media, email and even through the church newsletter. 

Whilst most of the leadership work comes from planning new and exciting activities for the kids, the graphic designs I create to promote our events help keep our audience in the know for YAYA's upcoming events. I use industry standard programs such as InDesign, Premiere Pro, After Effects and Canva to make these posts and designs.

Each month the YAYA leaders host a youth night for students under the age of 18. We include activities for social interaction, bonding, team building and incorporate some spiritual discussion as well. We plan new activities each month and tie in related biblical themes depending on the time of year.

Most Years the YAYA group hosts a Christmas event for the Upper Mt Gravatt/Wishart Parish. We have hosted Trivia Nights, Game Show Nights and Christmas Carols open to members of the community. 

Our volunteer efforts produce a joyous evening with family, friends and plenty of laughs. This is our largest event which helps fundraise for the parish, and give allowances to facilitate our smaller events such our monthly under-18's youth night.
