Analog Collages
2020
During the COVID-19 pandemic I was trying to find ways to distract myself and occupy my time. A new challenge I sought was to try different mediums of art and design that aren't very mainstream and build up my skills of them. One medium that interested me was the use of scanners and making analog collages. Analog collages are unique because of their overall look. You can see the layering of the paper and the cutouts of the images. The use of cutting out printed images and organizing them easily to your liking is also part of what makes analog collages unique. There are also image effects such as ripped edges and shadows that are easier to create on paper compared to using software like Photoshop and by using a scanner, it adds a vintage look to the piece.
The End Of The F***ing World concept poster ad
A TV Show that I really enjoyed watching was Netflix's "The End Of The F***ing World". The show provides many iconic and memorable characters and moments that I grew an attachment to. I thought that an analog collage would match the chaotic vibe of the show because of how the elements of the poster can be scattered all over the page. I included the main characters from seasons 1 and 2 of the show along with a couple of memorable side characters and the cutout of hair is to display one of the defining features the main characters have. The image of Alyssa and James' head stitched together represent their relationship and how they are destined for each other. The imperfections in the letter cutouts of the title also add a grounded feel to the poster and also reflects the messiness of the show.

Scott Pilgrim vs The World concept poster ad
A movie that I really enjoy is "Scott Pilgrim vs The World". It appeals to me because of how they managed to turn a comic book into a movie but still add features of the comic book in the movie. It is really a movie you have to watch for yourself to appreciate the attention to detail. The poster highlights many of the main themes of the movie. First is Scott and Ramona's Relationship, second is Ramona's 7 evil exes, and last is Scotts love for rock music. The 7 evil exes revolving around the guitar while Scott is seeming protecting Ramona hints at that plot of the movie. The bottom right hand corner shows an image of the comic book characters of Scott with Ramona on his head. This image was popularized by the rapper Lil Uzi Vert who used a similar image on his album cover. I added it as a pop culture reference.
