"Form follows function" is one of our core principles. Good looks are not enough, the function it provides is crucial for success. Due to hardware updates and additional 5G modules, heat dissipation inevitably became one of the main concerns. Therefore, the design team seized the opportunity and doubled down on the issue. For the ROG Phone 3's transparent back cover, the prominent heat sink is eye-catching and plays a vital role in the overall thermal solution.

Teardown

Through cross-function cooperation, our design teams made the heat sink six times larger than its predecessor. This modification provides better performance, and enables divergent styling through various manufacturing methods. The grooves increase surface area optimized for removing heat. The final product is CNC machined to evoke the precision of sports car engine design. These features convey the true power of the ROG Phone 3.

Details

Hardware quality is an essential topic of mobile design. Our in-house designers devoted long hours to interpret customer's insights into feasible solutions. The final result is a fully realized production and CMF strategy: a multi-layered film that reflects a holographic pattern, the Aura RGB lighting, and the AirTrigger 3.

Official Accessories

Our official accessories are designed in house to ensure the ROG Phone 3 to sustain its 100% design consistency. Previous generations of the ROG Phone received positive feedback about the accessories. This year they've been improved to give the ultimate mobile gaming experience.

Packaging

ROG's visual communication takes a lot of inspiration from the cyberpunk culture. The packaging design on the ROG Phone 3 is no exception. Slashes on both sides indicate how to proceed with the unboxing experience. The foil treatment on the logo catches and reflects light to give a sense of the energy inside.
