BEAUTY // BUILT WORD
I chose to build the word BEAUTY with the Futura typeface, and my materials were fake flowers and plastic pearls. I wanted to portray what BEAUTY means to me, and the message of this piece is how BEAUTY is constructed and unreal. The word BEAUTY is often associated with perfection, but perfection does not exist. This goes along with how beauty standards are imposed in our society, and how everything we see in social media, magazines, advertisings, etc; always looks so refined and "perfect", when in reality, there's a whole process behind that we do not get to see.
