Blackletter Tripoint Typeface & Process / Fall 2019

The final project for CDES 2225 was a book showing the process it took to create a typeface for a prior project. Throughout the eleven pages I explained each step, from gathering inspiration in the beginning to defining a concept, sketching control characters, translating the control characters into the rest of the alphabet, digitizing the character set in Illustrator, finalizing and kerning in Glyphs, and finally exporting the set as an OpenType Format typeface to typeset with. To add a tactile, interactive element to the book and show how the earliest letters evolved into their completed forms, I saved my sketches on tracing paper and sewed them into bundles that attached to the pages to be flipped through.
