Something's Off
Something not quite right. Food is running low and I cannot get everything I want but what I do find isn't quite right. My parents would always say “stop playing with your food and just eat it”, yet here I am playing with my food for art. Being told not to do something doesn’t mean that there is not any fun to be had, aren’t chefs playing with food when they present a plate that is decadently arranged? My imagination wanders from time to time with this project. I have let it venture into the darkness to play with food and sculpt spontaneous forms suspended in a void, disrupted by shards of lights. The brain already does a decent job at determining whether something is safe to eat. Although it’s not always intentional, the brian also makes connections between unrelated things. Apophenia (ap-o-phe-nia) is the tendency to perceive meaningful connections between unrelated things, such as seeing figures in the clouds.

I invite you to let your mind wonder, there is something off… but I can’t pin it down.

This is my graduation project I created in my final semester doing a Bachelor of Art (Photography) at RMIT University, Melbourne, Australia
