Reconstructed Nature

I gather plants and foliage and use them to create images with designs and patterns that don’t always occur naturally.

The masking tape and other supports used to construct the images highlight the imposition of an ‘unnatural’ order on the natural material.
I also make close-up and detailed images of the support elements, which are forcing the order. These are more abstract and graphical images that show the reconstructed nature of the project.
The paper is taped against my studio window so I'm shooting against the light. This brings out the texture of the paper and some transparency in the masking tape.
I increase the Shadows adjustment in Lightroom as part of the post-processing to bring back some colour in the main subject.

Thanks for your interest in my work.
