Greenbelt Conservancy Branding Exercise

A good friend of mine mentioned he was participating in a logo competition for the Greenbelt Conservancy in Staten Island. I took this as an opportunity to stretch my branding muscles and create a quick brand refresh. This is purely an exercise, and in no way a submission to their competition.
After he mentioned trail markers that adored the trees in the park's trail, I used that as a base for the Brand Identity. A scalable, versatile mark based on the stacked rectangular trail markers gives this execution room to grow, both on the trail and online.
Each trail is color coded. This allows the logo to adapt and shift as the trails branch and converge. The brand strengthens the more you interact with nature and the Greenbelt Conservancy.
Here was a quick mock of a trail destination sign, giving you a clear idea of the difficulty and length of each. The Logo adorns the bottom corner, reinforcing the trail marker branding.
