Event Poster: Golden Gate Park Events 2019
Statement of Intent:
The Golden Gate Park event poster is designed to showcase events happening in October 2019. The text is organized in a way to show typographic hierarchy; the title and date of the event are made to be the largest and legible whereas the details and the times of the event are styled the smallest. The fonts used are Interstate for the majority of the event titles and dates and Degular for the event descriptions. The poster is split between free and paid events.
I was playing on the usage of figure-ground ambiguity with the dates; cutting off parts of the number but you are still able to read it clearly. The color choice of red, orange and yellow represents the autumn season and plays into the Halloween holiday as the events are all happening in October. I decided to use circles as a form of texture to break away from the staircase text orientation that was implemented. Another form of texture used on the poster are paint strokes which, as subtle as it is, doesn’t break away from legibility but adds another dimension in the poster.
