BLOCKOUT
/SkyCity Challenge 2019/

Most people live a meager, lazy, unconscious life, with a home-work-home regime. Such an aimless existence does not please anyone. To everything else, people use the resources given by nature, exploiting it mercilessly.
BlockOut is a game for those who want to develop spatial imagination and abstract thinking. This is a puzzle from the category of good old Tetris. Only you play not in two but in three dimensions.
With this project we present a new form of housing - “Blockout”, which challenges the usual way of life. Living in these structures is like an exciting adventure, like a game. Various social ties are created here. Homes are mobile and affordable for everyone. And the units themselves, like plants, are able to grow, regenerate, purify and fill the air with oxygen.
Our residential unit is fully adapted for transportation and can be assembled in any corner of our vast planet. In addition to BCORE Slabs, windows, doors, insulation, plumbing, all furniture, and air filters fit in one container for transportation. The whole house, as a result, occupies approximately 65% of the space of the shipping container.
Thus, our residential unit turned out to be very compact and its future owner will not encounter any problems loading the house and personal items in a container.
Each of the presented units can exist as an autonomous compact residential building for one family. Also, when several units are combined together, it can become the basis for a townhouse for several families. In densely populated areas, the third form of unit organization is skyscrapers, when units, as if in Tetris, line up vertically to form a high tower (optional). In multi-storey structural systems, people will get to their apartments via common staircases or elevators that will be located on the back of the towers. When the blocks are combined, voids appear that can be used as public spaces on terraces or as a personal balcony. Inside each individual unit, it is possible to replace the staircase with an elevator for representatives of people with limited mobility.
Each residential unit consists of a simple set of identical elements. The walls were cut in such a way as to achieve the most efficient use of the slab and prevent unnecessary material consumption.
