This project was built on human centred design principles. human centred design opens up the potential for new realities and experiences that we may not have previously imagined just like the COVID-19 pandemic.
Peoples mental Health has taken a toll during the pandemic. we have seen that a lot of people have experienced feelings like loneliness uncertainty anxiousness and depression.
A recent survey conducted by the South African depression and anxiety group found that nearly half of the 1214 respondents felt that financial stress and pressure were one of the main challenges during lockdown. Adding to this over half of respondents sighted anxiety and panic as a major challenge. Our research has led us to identify our key problem that there is a direct relationship between social economic well-being and mental health.
53% of south african small businesses applied for relief funding from the government. While only 6% who applied for relief funding were successful.
94% of these businesses are either in a cash flow crisis situation or will be within the next few weeks. 63% have laid of or expect to do so within the next few weeks.
79% are unsure if they are going to survive the pandemic.
