TWINS: Double the trouble or twice as nice?

The Beginning is all about capturing the essence of the twin relationship and unbreakable bond between twins. It tells the story of the beginning, where the twins evolve from a single egg (identical), whilst appearing similar, they are individual entities. The relationship is encompassed by the glowing ring, symbolising the strength of the twin connection and bond. The exhibition experience seeks to be atmospheric as the glow and aura of the twins radiates through the room. See the next page to view the video projection featured in this exhibition space.
The Comparisons seeks to capture the idea of how people tend to see twins as one, rather than two separate individuals. Twins often face innocent comparisons and questions which is part of the fascination of twins. This space seeks to recreate the comparisons and feeling of pressure between twins. The center piece of the experience is a large semi transparent mirror placed over two plinths. This piece reflects anyone who stands in front of it, however in the reflection will also appear a duplicate or twin of yourself to capture the feeling of having a twin. As you stand in front of the mirror, voices fill the room, talking over each other chanting the phrases and questions explored in the video projection. See the next page to view the video projection featured in this exhibition space.
The Stares represents society in general spectating twins as people often take a lot of fascination with twins. From a twin perspective, this is about expressing the feeling of the constant stares. Having someone that looks nearly identical to you is not a normal thing for some people, so the stares are all part of the experience. In this exhibition space, the suspended eyes in the center of the space move as you explore the physical space, emulating the feeling of having many eyes on you, staring. The Mystery seeks to capture the main cliches that twins experience. These being, telepathy, mind reading, the classic “if I pinch you can they feel it?” and being asked if we are identical when... we clearly are. The physical experience invites participants to sit on the seats across from one another. Up above features moving shapes, laser lights and floating letters, symbolic of the believed telepathy and mind reading between twins.
