Sustained Investigation

For my third sustained investigation I decided to have Kobe go onto the pros after one season with Duke. Kobe Bryant was originally in the 1996 NBA Draft but if he were to go to college he would end up in the 1997 draft. Kobe conveyed his once in a lifetime talent at Duke and was scouted by many NBA scouts. The Boston Celtics were in a need of a new guard during the 1997 season so Kobe would fit perfectly on the team. So with the 3rd pick of the draft Boston selects Kobe Bryant. In this step I brainstorm ideas/images for my piece.
Here I began to remove all images related to the Lakers by using content aware and the clone tool.
In this step I started to change the colors of the jersey to fit the Celtics colors. I was having a hard time getting the transition to look clean and had to go back with a layer mask to clean up the edges the best I could. I originally took BRYANT out of the jersey but realized it would be easier to leave the name and just change the color of the name. I also added the celtics logo on the hat to represent the team who drafted him.
In this step I began to incorporate the background into the image. I used the green plaid in the background to fit the Celtics' Irish design. They but the logo in the background with some glow to make it stand out from the rest of the image. Also added some vignette but left the Kobe layer in front of it because he is the main focus of the piece.
In my final step I changed the colors of the logo because I felt like it made the piece look a little cleaner and fits the colors of the jerseys well. I also added the NBA Draft logo in the bottom left corner so the viewer doesn't mistaken this image as a trade instead of a draft pick.
