Something on Samsung S27C430J Monitor Design
A story talking about how design from an simple idea to final product, 2012.
The product background was Samsung computer monitor group planned to launch a new generation of displays for internet café to China market. The model shared the same LCD pannel with others in product line, and we had to design a completely new base as differetiation.
During ideation, the most challenging issue for product design was how can we find out the correct design points for both our product and the certain Chinese users who surfing websites in internet cafes.
Fortunately, we had found something that really appropriated to design as the traditional calligraphy can best explain Chinese spirits and philosophy, both model and pass.
Chinese calligraphy used to be the best and only way to communicate between people, and monitor for Internet cafe as well. Thus we tried to combine this element into our new design.
After hundreds of works, we finally cover sketches into modelling and production.
