We are generating more residues than our planet can afford,
also with the use of digital technologies.
ALMOST FULL is a climate data initiative that visualizes
the environmental impact of the Internet.
We wanted to show that the internet takes up space and to increase this feeling of occupying space, the space available for infographics is gradually being reduced. To fill this space, a noise layer is generated, as if it were the trace of the data itself, which will increase in size in each section.
The negative data appear next to quotes from tech gurus about the positive progress of technology. What these quotes generate is a contradiction between the positivity in the discourse of these people and the negative impact of the Internet. Therefore, a friction is generated between the two opposing narratives that aims to awake the interest of the public and make them rethink on the true nature of these discourses.
The app works as a scanner of our actions. It allows us to know the energy consumption of our mobile, based on the data that is downloaded every time we open the Internet and on the electricity consumption.
The objective of this project is to make visible such an invisible fact and make the viewer rethink, reflect and question attitudes and tech discourses.
