Martha Heron's profile

Landfill* Archives

Landfill*Archives is a brand I created in order to sell my handmade, recycled clothing, over time it has developed into a small business venture.  I began making clothes because I wanted to wear things that I couldn't seem to find anywhere; my family had lots of old Levi's so I used them to start but as people saw what I made I started buying quality jeans from charity shops and receiving donations from friends.  I only have a small collection of pieces but it's a starting point for me; I followed on to create a website/blog for my 1st year final project at the FRA.  I am continuing to make more items and play with ideas while also planning marketing strategies that will give me a larger customer base and recognition.

https://marthaheron.wixsite.com/landfillarchives is the online store I created for the brand, (it is not yet linked to my domain neither can you make purchases through it yet, but that's the next step.)
This is one of my favourite images of the hoodie I made.  I used it for my INP at college where I combined the work of an overlooked graffiti artist with that of my denim brand 'Landfill* Archives,' to produce an online blog based on this collaboration.  Here is a link to my mock-up blog: https://40090448.wixsite.com/marthaheroninpblog.  The wording on the wall was taken from an image I took in London, when editing the original image I saw this wording on a wall in the background and decided to incorporate it into my project.  The idea of taking something from the 'background' and making it an artistic point of conversation reflects the ethos of my brand, LANDFILL* ARCHIVES where I aim to take discarded fabric and reinterpret it into a desirable garment.  The positioning and accessories are inspired by an iconic picture of Liam Gallagher from the '80s.  I think my customer would listen to similar music and would therefore be a part of the subculture I am trying to captivate.
This is the second hoodie I made, with the necessary amendments.  Composed of old Stone Island and Diesel jeans and designed for a young man with a love for rare vintage and one-off streetwear.

This is the brand logo drawn by @ScarlettRiggs, the design represents the brand's slogan 'Devils in Glistening Robes.'
I would like to make a dress from old denim using belted features and waist bands in a way that physically holds the dress together with purpose while also captivating a punk-like feel.
My rough progression sketches for the denim dress I would like to make.
Mens Prada cross body bag, made from second hand jeans, set for a return to raving this summer.

Design for printed business/sales cards to be given to customers who buy my products from the collection of bags, jeans and tops commissioned by a local vintage store: 68LoftVintage Tring.
A commission for a large beach bag, using 1 pair of jeans and a Ralph Lauren shirt
A commission for a black bag using 2 of the customers old skirts with a purple accent somewhere on the bag.
