Sonic Screwdriver
A fanciful piece of nostalgic modelling, which in the wake of the earthen marble pots project, took texturing and materials up a step, this is the Tennant era screwdriver design.
The more complex design gave me a chance to try crafting an object which would require attention to ever finer details, relating not only to working with the topology, but also being mindful of the fact that as with real world design you need to consider your project as an assembly of individual parts rather than singular, uniform sculpture - hence the following images of the screwdriver in its various functional states.
The threading around the core was an interesting challenge.. utilising two threads around a core, a screw modifier applied to each, to produce the intertwined form.
