Commission on Excellence and Innovation in Health(CEIH)

The Commission on Excellence and Innovation in Health (CEIH) sought original digital images, patterns, graphics, and illustrations that represent new and unexpected observations, connecting lateral and conceptual thinking, to people, place and society as a dynamic point of personal identification and possibility.

Because of the Covid-19 pandemic I explored the idea of connectivity, the idea that although we are separated from each other, we are all still connected, and we need to fight this together. So, I explored using dots and connecting those dots to represent connectivity.

My design was inspired by the double helix DNA strand. The design was modelled on the human circulatory system; the dots representing blood vessels moving through the veins and arteries. My design featured a panel of four dot paintings of different colours. This hearkens back to the ancient Greek and medieval theory of the four humours in medicine. The design also resembles a fingerprint. All fingerprints are unique, just as all DNA is unique.
