This illustration was amazing to work on! When Jacob reached out to me with this concept – I *immediately* LOVED the idea, even in it’s written form! I was so excited to illustrate it!! His vision and play on the infamous Birth of Venus were already amazing before we officially signed anything to work together, PLUS the fact that it was a surprise gift [an amazingly thoughtful idea for a gift! Love it! Which was also made into like 70 shirts for their friends to wear for a virtual b-day surprise on 7/20! Ah! 💖😭] I mean, come on – classic art piece, plus tarot, plus flowers and foliage and gorgeous flowing hair! How could you not love it?!

For this piece, I worked mainly in flat colors and had very minimal shading. After re-illustrating and coloring Hibiscus’s face, the more realistic shading look [because her makeup is gorge and distinct] was the way to go! So incredibly happy with this, and it was made even better by working with such a fantastic client, Jacob, for a wonderful gift! I don't freelance too often, but I must say I have been so thankful for the amazing people I get to meet [even through email], their stories, and their passions all of which help with creating and illustrating their visions.
