Started as an entirely different painting, but still inspired by butterflies, I had found myself giving up on this piece, feeling unmotivated to continue working on it. It was first started as a challenge, to broaden my work and include insects, animals and even fire. Elements and things I had never once tried to paint.

Through this process, I had come to realise that it is okay to scrap a painting and begin it from scratch. It might be hard to let go, knowing how much time I had spent upon it, but if I didn't, I wouldn't have creating the blue piece (a month after I had given up on the artwork above).
