This lockdown gave me a wonderful opportunity to design a children’s picture book as a budding illustrator, thanks to the talented client and author Sangeeta Mulay, who has written many amazing books for children on science, the animal kingdom and much more.
No More Mumbo Jumbo, as an illustration project began with going through the story and getting familiar with the context and characters that make up the story. The story is set in a small village, TumTumPur. It is a very clever narrative on how important science is for the progress and development of mankind, it also teaches children to avoid believing in superstitions.
The next phase was ideation and explorations for what style would do justice to the content and bring fun as well as curiosity to the young readers.
The journey of creating the story in visuals was a great learning experience that helped me understand a younger audience and expand my reach as a visual communication student.
