Designers from the IIE's Vega School campuses collaborated with Samsung in a single day design challenge, to create inspiring interactive Mobile Themes for the Galaxy Store. Over 400 students took part across the four Vega campuses (Johannesburg, Pretoria, Cape Town and Durban), where 3 final teams were selected by Samsung for public voting.

The brief was open ended with the idea of creating a theme which appeals to the South African market. Thus, a theme taking inspiration from the Afro Punk movement was created with uniquely themed iconography, illustrations, backgrounds and a futuristic African colour palette. The theme was created to promote greater cultural richness and assist in cementing Africa’s unique aesthetic and styles within the global culture.

The main illustration was created by Mohapi Polo while the backgrounds, icons, typography and other deliverables were pursued by the rest of the team; 

consisting of Dean Sartor, Kyle Sartor and Liam Cuffley.
