Old town Vilnius apartment renovation.
The client's main requirements were to create a light, calm and most importantly a practical interior where they could comfortably spend their golden years and have an opportunity to host their daughter and grandchildren.
The floor plan was extremely outdated and the first decision was to get rid of tiny storage rooms that ran through the entire apartment. The newly acquired space allowed the installations of new skylights giving the apartment much needed daylight.
The room layout was left virtually identical apart from one crucial change where the guest room and bedroom were switched. This way the apartment is very obviously divided in private and public spaces.
The material selection was a logical progression from the initial color concept. Largely we stuck to light to medium earthtones. The overall color scheme was left monochromatic partially to help accentuate the owners daughters artwork which are decorating the walls. The furniture selection also served that purpose by mostly being done in natural finishes. Some darker shades were added to give the apartment depth and drama.
