PosteMobile Re-Design

Here I would like to discuss a little more the flaws I found in using the current PosteMobile application.

- No clear CTA's
In the current application of PosteMobile, the first landing page you are presented with is a menu of around 6 or 7 different options to choose from. Generally you could say this isn't necessarily a bad thing. However, it isn't initially clear where you need to go. There are some options that are not really needed if the user is purely using the application to view his current mobile network details such as data, sms's remaining and call minutes remaining. After personally using the app as my own network provider you soon discuss the option you need is '160'. Don't ask me why the option you need to select is 160, but that is the option you need to select to be able to visualise your current mobile data.

As a current user, this took me, someone who uses applications quite regularly, a good 15 minutes to understand which option I needed. The only way I discovered it was by systematically and painfully going through each option. For me this is huge design flaw and could really hold using back from using the application or, if they do use it, cause them great frustration and greatly maximise their time in which they would much rather devote to something else.

- App has too many uses
The application has too many functions. Apart from being the application used for sim/mobile data, it can also be used for many other functions such as booking to go the Post Office, managing loyalty cards etc. This is all well and good, but if you are purely a PosteMobile user, those options don't interest you and only distract and confuse the use as to what. he needs this application for. For me there needs to be a specific PosteMobile app which is focused and specifically used for and to manage your PosteMobile SIM card.

After thinking about the colour palette and and overall theme of the application, I went about researching to come up with the ideal persona to use the app.

In the end, I came up with this:

- 20 - 50 years old
- Normal student or Worker
- Sometimes have decent skills in using mobile devices however in most cases have a limited use and generally need help from family members to be able to use mobile devices.
- Use the app maybe once or twice a month to check credit when given an alert or to top up the SIM card to receive next months offer

After considering all of these factors and speaking with some users of this application I came up a few points that I wanted to retain and implement in the application:

- Clear CTA and an application that remains logged in
- When user opens the application (after first use to sign up) lands straight onto a dashboard overview when the user can see the three main attributes of the sim offer: Data remaining, SMS remaining and Call Minutes remaining
- Ease of use in the fact the user can click on one of the graphics, for example data, and this expands the graphic to cover the page and give a more detailed inside and a clear option to add further offers to that specific attribute.
- a simple and easy menu at the base of the screen with clear indicators for Sim, settings, Home Screen and a search button to search the application if further options are needed
- a notifications bell at the top left of the application. This gives PosteMobile the option to give specific notifications to that user or PosteMobile users in general and this will be easily seen by the user as soon as they enter.
- The users number clearly displayed at the top of the screen. After researching the Persona I thought about the ability and general technological ability of the user and maybe they would use this also to provide friends with their telephone number. They could quickly open the app and be able to clearly visualise their number.

In my final design I feel I implemented these features well and that the user would have an overall better experience using PostMobile and would view the company in a more positive light.
