This project entailed a recreational space for people of that neighborhood to spend their free time while they get an experience of being near nature. Located in Bangladesh on the back of National botanical garden, which is in the middle of a residential area, Eastern Housing, the site is an open triangular shaped land with a view of the National Botanical Garden on the west and a city scape on the east. In current days, there’s a lot of security issues regarding the Botanical Garden. As a result, this huge area is almost being abandoned and is becoming more of a crime zone day by day. The current situation of the site inspired to merge the site visually with the garden and create an impression of the site being a part of the National Botanical Garden. It will help to solve the security issues regarding the Botanical garden as the site is adjacent to the garden and has a sense of belonging to the residents of Eastern Housing as it is a part of this area
My concept was to create elevated ground planes throughout the site that enables people to see beyond the boundaries of the Botanical Garden creating less opportunities for criminal activities
The enclosed forms are generated from the curves of the walkway, which is the main attraction of this park. This walkway connects every function that is placed in the park. I tried to create a bit of a drama between the indoor and outdoor spaces so that the journey remains enjoyable as most of the enclosed places are submerged to the ground and ramps connect these different ground planes.
